in rural South West Scotland

Information

The AMFA Art Residency is tailored to the artist, illustrator designer or writer in residence providing an opportunity of time and space to focus on accomplishing a premeditated plan, to develop your practice and create new ideas, works or project. The Studio-Gallery is surrounding by stunning scenic rural countryside in South West Scotland and offers a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of life.

The space: An allocated space within working studio with an easel, trolley, drying racks and access to basic tools. There is a private bedroom with work desk, shared bathrooms and kitchen area, and a gallery which is available to be used for exhibitions in collaboration with gallery owner, or simply as a space to enjoy and reflect.

The place: A charming former church (with NO graveyard) surrounded by garden with open views to countryside and river valley. The building has been renovated to provide a comfortable combination of traditional and contemporary accommodation, filled with light and character with a studio and gallery.  The accommodation has an open plan kitchen/dining, sitting area within gallery and is arranged to sleep up to 6 guests in three bedrooms with two fitted shared bathrooms.

The Neighbourhood: The Studio-Gallery is located in a rural conservation village set in the picturesque River Stincher Valley in South West Scotland offering inspiration for artists,illustrators, writers, poets, song writers with coast (10 minutes drive) nearby and the coastal villages of Lendalfoot and Ballantrae with beaches and lovely sunsets with stunning views of Ailsa Craig, Isle Of Arran, Mull Of Kintyre in good weather. The Southern Uplands are nearby providing more rugged scenery along with the stunning Loch Trool to explore, inspire and enjoy.

The art residency is available from 1month to 6months at a cost discount to £800 per month (subsidised £200 by Allan McNally) , inclusive of studio space, private room, self catering shared kitchen, heating bills and FREE WIFI and fresh home baked bread most days.
